The purpose of this screenplay contest is to raise money for writers and get their films produced. In addition ALL WRITERS RECEIVE FEEDBACK ON THEIR SCRIPT.
Feedback is given on a first come first serve basis. Meaning if you submit your screenplay in February you dont have to wait till June to get your feedback. You get your feedback in the order it was received and read.
Winner receives 30% of the entry fees and reserves the right to either put that money towards production of their script or take the money and run. It's YOUR CHOICE!
In order to compete in this business it is becoming more apparent that you need both a script AND a film under your belt before you will get any recognition. It's a common catch 22 in this business. Agents dont take on unproduced writers and writers cant get production companies to produce their movies without an agent.
With the advances in digital technology and professional cameras becoming less expensive, more and more films are being made each year. Sundance receives over 9,000 submissions a year and the number keeps growing.
Even if you feel your script couldnt be produced for less than a million dollars, you should still enter. Because you could make your movie into a short film in order to raise money for the feature film like Owen and Luke Wilson did with Bottle Rocket. You could shoot an investors trailer to raise money, or you can just keep the money and use it how you see fit.
Even if you dont know the first thing about making a movie, we are here to help make your dream come true In addition to the screenplay contest we offer free advice on how to make a movie on a low/no budget.
